Rural Living Zone Strategy

The In the Rural Living Zone Strategy was adopted at the Council Meeting of 23 September 2015.

It provides a strategic basis for planning the future use and development of land within the Rural Living Zone (RLZ) and for managing different areas of RLZ land across the shire. The key objective of the Strategy is to provide for a finite 30 year supply of RLZ land across the shire.

Planning Scheme Amendment C110 implemented this strategy into the Macedon Ranges Planning Scheme. The amendment was adopted by Council on 27 July 2016, but split into two parts.

  • Part 1 contained the majority of the Planning Scheme changes proposed under the amendment and was approved by the Minister for Planning on 9 April 2017 and gazetted on 27 April 2017.
  • Part 2 related to particular change areas in Kyneton and Romsey. Council resolved to abandon Part 2 at the Council Meeting of 27 September 2017.
