Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct

The Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct is a ~$44.5 million project incorporating expansive indoor and outdoor recreation.

It is spread across two interconnected sites in New Gisborne, located at the intersection of Barringo and Hamilton roads.

Stage One of the precinct was officially opened on Friday 28 June 2024 and includes:

  • a three-court sports stadium
  • spectator seating
  • a kiosk and office space
  • car parking/drop-off area
  • a natural grass AFL/cricket oval
  • change rooms
  • a pavilion featuring a multi-function space
  • a fitness loop and outdoor fitness equipment
  • half-court basketball
  • a playground
  • barbecue areas
  • wetlands/a detention basin.

What's on

Starting in Term 3, the following programs will be run at the stadium.

Futsal

Macedon Ranges Futsal will be running two seasonal competitions based at the sports precinct.

  • Winter (Terms 2 and 3)
  • Summer (Terms 4 and 1)

Netball

The Macedon Ranges Netball Association (MRNA) currently runs a midweek women's competition and has two seasons a year: 

  • Season one: January to June
  • Season two: July to December

Basketball

The following associations will offer programs at the sports precinct.

Sunbury Basketball Association

Domestic and representative junior and senior basketball, Aussie Hoops and Flight Path programs.

The MRBA is a volunteer-run association, offering a wide range of basketball programs to both children and adults alike. 

Programs include:

  • Aussie Hoops
  • U10 competition and training
  • Local junior domestic competition (U12 through to U18)
  • Junior tournament and representative teams
  • All-abilities basketball
  • Open Mens
  • CBL
