New Lancefield kindergarten & MCH service

The Lancefield Kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre project involves the building of a three-room kindergarten and MCH service in Lancefield – to accommodate the increase in demand for both services in the Lancefield/Romsey area.

The project was funded and led by the Victorian Government's Victorian School Building Authority, supported by a $3 million Building Blocks Capacity Grant. Council allocated $16,000 in the 2023-24 Budget to ensure the new centre is fully furnished, in addition to more than $120,000 to ensure the build has improved environmental and sustainable design elements to make it more comfortable for children and staff, and more efficient and cost-effective to run in the long term.

The existing Lancefield Playgroup will be co-located in the new build and will continue to be run by community members.

The new centre opened in February 2025. For information about services based at the new facility, see Lancefield Children's Centre
