As part of the October 2023 flood recovery program, the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) is partnering with the Council to undertake removal of Weeds of National Significance such as Willow, Blackberry and Gorse along the Campaspe River and Post Office Creek in and around Kyneton.
The program is focused on preventing further decline of the waterway and reducing the potential for flooding of residential areas by removing woody weeds – predominantly Willows.
Works will also include revegetation stabilisation works to reduce erosion and enhance the river and creek’s natural values, and improved water quality and supply.
Weed removal works started in April 2024, with revegetation works targeted for completion by spring.
