Romsey, Main Street East Side - Bridge Works

Works to refurbish an ageing Romsey footbridge, to improve safety and accessibility at a key pedestrian connection are now complete.

The bridge is located over File Miles Creek, on the east side of Main Street just north of Murphy Street. These works, which were funded through Council’s 2024-2025 Capital Works Program, included:

Replacement of the timber decking with a high strength, slip-resistant fibre reinforced polymer material
New steel balustrade to meet current standards
Minor maintenance work on the bridge’s main steel beams.
All bridge components are colour coded to blend with the neighbourhood character.

Council thanks the Romsey community and beyond for their patience during these works. The works were completed in mid-December with minimal disruption on site and was a good outcome for the community.
