Springhill, Kyneton-Springhill Road - Upper Coliban Reservoir bridge
Important safety improvements are planned for the Upper Coliban Reservoir bridge on Kyneton-Springhill Road, about 6.8km from Trentham Road.
The improvements include resurfacing the bridge, making the road wider on the eastern side, and adding more signs for safety.
Following a recent bridge inspection, the weight limit for vehicles crossing the bridge will be reduced to 25 tonnes. This means heavy vehicles over this limit can't use the bridge and will need to follow alternate routes marked with signs.
Council officers have engaged with the relevant stakeholders including Coliban Water, Traditional Owners and heritage specialists on the culturally sensitive site.
Works will commence in mid-September 2024 and are expected to be completed in about four weeks, weather permitting. During these works, sections of Kyneton-Springhill Road either side of the Upper Coliban Reservoir bridge will be closed, with detours in place via Shepherds Hill Road to the west and Sebastopol Road to the east.
These works are funded by the 2024-25 Capital Works Program.
