Restoring a heritage property
Many townships and individual properties are protected for their heritage significance by Heritage Overlays. This means that Macedon Ranges’ rich history and heritage character, streetscapes, buildings and features will be preserved for future generations.
For more information about Heritage Overlays visit Local Heritage Protection at the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).
To find out if your property has heritage protection, you can use Council's online mapping service to view planning overlay information or download a free property report.
If you own a building that is affected by a Heritage Overlay, you may need a planning or building permit to renovate, to alter or subdivide the property or land.
