Are you a waste warrior?
Enter the competition to have your artwork displayed on one of Council’s waste collection vehicles for years to come.
Create an artwork reflecting one of the chosen categories to creatively show the community how to best sort their waste and protect our environment.
How to enter
The competition opens Term 2, Tuesday 22 April 2025 and closes Friday 30 May 2025.
Students and children are invited to create an artwork reflecting one of the chosen categories to creatively show the community how to best sort their waste and protect our environment.
- Artist can use any of the following mediums: paint, ink, pencil, crayon, chalk.
- Maximum sizing for the artwork: A3 (297mm x 420mm)
- Digital artwork will be accepted from primary and secondary school entrants but must be provided in printed format.
- Combined group artworks will be accepted from early learning centres and kindergartens only.
- Artist must include their name, school and class on the back of the artwork.
- Please include contact details for home school and private entries.
- Optional: provide a brief description of the artwork.
- One entry per student.
- Entries must be received by close of business on Friday 30 May 2025 via post to: Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Bin Truck Art Competition, PO Box 151, Kyneton VIC 3444 or delivered to one of our customer service centres.

Terms and conditions
- Entrant must live or go to school within the Macedon Ranges.
- One entry per student.
- Entries must be received by close of business on Friday 30 May 2025 via post to Macedon Ranges Shire Council, PO Box 151, Kyneton VIC 3444 or delivered to a customer service centre.
- Artwork must be completed on paper or cardboard and be flat.
- Artist can use any of the following mediums: paint, ink, pencil, crayon, chalk.
- Digital artwork will be accepted from primary and secondary school entrants but must be provided in printed format.
- Combined group artworks will be accepted from early learning centres and kindergartens only.

- Original artworks will not be altered. Council may use partial artworks, add logos, mascots, slogans and other branding.
- Original artworks will not be returned to artists or schools, so please take a photo before sending if you wish.
Judging and prizes
Competition entries will be shortlisted by a panel of staff from the Resource Recovery team with final winners judged by a panel of Councillors.
Minimum of three winners from each age/learner group (early learning, primary and secondary) will win a waste warrior starter kit to take home as well as having their artwork featured on a Council waste collection truck.
The early learning centre or school from which the winners are from, will win a delivery of organic compost for their gardens.
Each entrant will have the chance to have their artwork used in ongoing waste education campaigns.
Council will contact the school or early learning centre directly to notify the winners. Winners will be invited to a photo opportunity.
