Dog off leash and prohibited areas

Dogs in public places must be on a leash, except in designated off-leash areas. 

Dogs must be on a leash on all footpaths and shared paths in the shire, even those in designated off-leash areas. The only exception is in the timed dog off-leash walking tracks: Campaspe River Walk in Kyneton and Five Mile Creek Walk in Romsey, during the hours 7.30am – 10am daily.

In dog off-leash areas except during sporting events, also includes team training sessions. 

Dogs must also be under effective control at all times and should not be left unattended.

To protect the shire’s sensitive native environment, dogs are prohibited in these sensitive areas.
