Kindergarten registration

Registration to attend a Council kindergarten is free and open year-round.

For the best chance of securing a spot, it's recommended to register by 31 May the year before your child starts.

If you have any questions about the registration process, call our Enrolment Officer on (03) 5422 0239 or email kinderenrolment@mrsc.vic.gov.au

How to register

Step 1.Before you begin

Make sure you have copies of the following documentation:

  • a medicare immunisation record, or
  • a copy of your child’s birth certificate, or
  • a copy of another official document such as a passport or other proof-of-age document (can be a clear photo of the document) ready to attach to the registration.

Decide on your preferred kindergartens:

  • When registering, you can nominate up to three preferred kindergartens, and we recommend to list more than one to increase your chances.

Step 2.Submit your application

Fill out the kindergarten registration form.

Step 3.After you apply

It is important to remember that registration does not guarantee your child’s place.

You will receive an email with further information and confirmation of your registration prior to your child starting at kindergarten.

First-round offers are typically sent in July.

If unsure about your child’s readiness, you can defer the place at no cost for a year.
