Creatures of the Night - Spotlighting

Next date: Wednesday, 02 April 2025 | 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM

Sugar Glider Spotlighting event

Council is hosting the annual Creatures of the Night event – where we invite community members especially families to join us for our spotlighting walks in the reserves and roadsides in Macedon Ranges Council's biolink areas.

  • Wednesday 2 April – Barringo Reserve, New Gisborne
  • Wednesday 16 April – Hobbs Road Reserve, Bullengarook

On each evening, animals that may be observed include nesting birds, Common Ringtail and Brushtail Possum, Koala and even the very rare Brush-tailed Phascogale.

Although we cannot guarantee these incredible creatures will make an appearance on the night, we can promise an educational experience for the whole family! Children, especially school-aged children are welcome to attend.

Details of exact locations and meeting points will be provided to participants prior to the event.

Spotlighting torches are provided. You are welcome to bring your own torches and cameras. Please bring water and snacks. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

These spotlight events are weather-dependent. We may cancel an event at short notice due to severe weather conditions such as wind and rain. We will give you as much notice as possible.
