There is a fire not yet under control in Willowmavin, currently travelling in a southerly direction - towns in the east of our shire covered by the alert include Chintin, Darraweit Guim, Monegeetta, Romsey and Springfield.

Total Fire Ban and Extreme Fire Danger Rating - 22 & 23 February 2025

The CFA (Country Fire Authority) has forecast an Extreme fire danger rating and declared a Total Fire Ban for Saturday 22 February 2025, and again for Sunday 23 February 2025, for the Central district (which includes the Macedon Ranges). Some facilities will be closed. The Campout at Hanging Rock event has been cancelled.

Sustainable Buildings Policy

The Sustainable Buildings Policy was adopted by Council on 22 September 2021.

As of May 2021, Council maintains over 282 buildings and 201 minor structures that are used by staff, local residents and the wider community. There is a continual need for upgrades and new buildings.

The policy ensures that Council is acting on its declaration of a climate emergency and is able to meet its strategic priorities to protect the natural environment and improve the built environment. It also provides a clear framework and set of minimum sustainable building standards to guide officer decisions about new buildings, building maintenance, upgrades, demolition and renewal.
