Kyneton – Kyneton Water Treatment Plant works

Coliban Water has informed Council of some upcoming works to the Kyneton Water Treatment Plant, to improve the water supply that they provide to customers in Kyneton, Malmsbury and Tylden.

Two stages of works are planned (with no impact to customers expected):

  1. Installation of bypass pipework.
  2.  Installation of a new ultra-violet (UV) disinfection system.

Coliban Water will install bypass pipework prior to the installation of a UV disinfection system. This will ensure there is no water supply interruption for those who receive water from Coliban Water.

Stage one of the works began in mid-September 2024, with these works expected to continue through to mid-October 2024 at the latest. Stage two will be completed in coming months.

Once installed, these upgrades will ensure Coliban Water’s plant continues to align with the latest drinking water standards. UV disinfection is a safe and common water treatment process that is used to treat many Australian drinking water supplies. It adds an extra layer of protection against microorganisms that may be present in untreated water.
